Winter’s Promise Our world has become so fast slow down your mind Slow down your heart look around And in amongst the debris the dull and the dead A little promise of spring to come raises up its pretty head A flower here or greens shoot there Rise up to find the sun Buds are forming under frost And seeded heads that clung to winter’s core There bobbing in the breeze Goodness taken long before By butterfly bird and bees Cocks a crowing crows a cawing They make me lift my head To look to see beyond the freeze To lift my heart to bring a smile When life brings me to my knees Yellow jasmine rosemary blues Red hips upon the rose A hint of colour in the buff Of rotting leaves which share the love A little warmth is in the sun That breaks where ere the frost has gone The air is clear and fresh A patch of blue above The heather says here I amm And Robin sings a cheerful chirp As sparrows think of love. Hi,I’m Marion & this wee fella is Yum Yum a first attempt at needle felting. My art journey began when I used doodle a little sleeping mouse with a big tummy. 🐭 I drew him everywhere, including on the cover of my school books. I do buy small boxes for my popular candle snuffers but I found trimmed cardboard tubes fit perfectly over them and the trimmings pack around. Any packing I receive gets stored and turned around. Playing catch up! Meet the maker Day 1 @joannehawker is Story. I’m now in my 5th year of recovery from PTSD and surgical menopause, I also lost my lovely mum to vascular dementia but I count my blessings every day and look for things to make me smile and create things to make other people smile. I took a BA in 3D Design Ceramics in the mid 80s but drawing was my first love. Due to personal circumstances, until 2018 I hadn’t created anything much for 15 years and it’s taken a while to get my Mojo back. I have done a succession of part time jobs alongside my art over the years from candyfloss making to massage therapy, farm work & gardening and helping my mum build up her rocking horse business. Before my surgeries I had spent 9 years as a full time journalist & photographer for a south Somerset free paper.
